2013-Present, Central Michigan University Leadership Safari is a 5 day conference put on by Central Michigan University the week before classes start to help incoming students, either freshman or transfer students, learn more about their leadership style and adjust to college life. To become a safari guide, a volunteer position, there are six training sessions during the previous spring semester and a week of training prior to the Safari conference in August. Their is also an individual application and interview process as well as a group interview process to become a safari guide.
Leadership Safari 2013:April 2013 - August 2013, Team Lobster, Safari Guide I was able to work with and lead a group of 12 incoming freshman student through our 5 day leadership conference. My first year on staff I was able to gain experience in an area that although I had some experience with, the safari experience was completely out of my comfort zone. Through my relationships with not only my participants but my core group I was able to become more confident, learn how to lead a group as well as become an active member within a group of student leaders.
Leadership Safari 2014: April 2014- August 2014,Team Lobster, Safari Guide My second year on staff I lead a group of 13 incoming freshman. Although that job was the same as 2013, this year was completely new, bringing new challenges, experiences, and memories. By having one year under my belt I was able to work more on developing specific skills, or making changes in my leadership style based on the previous years failures. I was also able to adapt more quickly to challenges that did arise. Safari 2014 lead me to realize that no matter what brings you to an experience in your life the best way to approach a difficult situation is to work hard and challenge your self to stay positive and engaged.

Leadership Safari 2015, October 2014- Present, Core Guide: Star Wars Silver For my third and final year on safari staff I have been working as a member of core staff. Our job is to review applications, interview candidates and evaluate performances of potential safari staff members before final staff selection is made. Once the staff has been selected as a core guide I would lead a group of 16 guides, 2 c-team members and one team runner member trough training in the spring and fall. Our job is to prepare these leaders for safari 2015 and help them develop their leadership style and skills. During the conference my responsibility is to debrief with my guides and make sure I am able to assist them in problem solving any issues that arose during their day. I am also responsible for handling and solving any problems that may come up during the day whether it is medial, a student issue or large scale conference problem. One such problem was severe weather during our 2014 conference forcing all 2000 participants plus staff to move indoors for one full day.
Leadership Safari has taught me many skills including leadership, understanding, patience, and critical thinking. Safari has been one of the most challenging but most rewarding program I have been a part of. Through team work and personal struggle I have been able to lead and watch 25 incoming students grow as individuals and leaders. I have been able to help them through out the year and for five of them to make the transition to becoming safari guides as well.
Sigma Alpha Iota - Eta Xi Chapter
2012-Present, Central Michigan University Sigma Alpha Iota is a professional music fraternity aimed at promoting music in our community and through out the world as well as empowering female musicianship.
General Member, 2012-Present As a general member of Sigma Alpha Iota I have been able to develop community building skills such as communication and educating other members. I was given the opportunity to mentor an incoming member during the spring of 2014. As a "big" or big sister I made sure my "little" or little sister felt welcomed into our group, as well as prepared for our Member in Training national exam that all new members are required to take for entrance into our organization. This experience above any other has shown me that commitment is the number one quality that build relationships and accomplish that goals of an organization such as Sigma Alpha Iota.
Sisterhood Committee Head, August 2014 - Present As the sisterhood committee head, a position I established within my chapter, I have planned and executed a retreat weekend for our sisters to work on their leadership skills, better communication better members, discuss problem areas in our organization and develop solutions that could be implemented within our chapter. I have also worked to create programs that allow sisters to understand their interactions with other and how their attitudes and views affect all of our relationships. My president asked that I speak on this topic at our annual Provence Day in February of 2015. I went through a typical personality exercise with the attendants and spoke about the techniques I used to establish stronger bonds between members. I have been able to work with the executive board to pin point areas of our chapter that need work and incorporate that into programs as well. Overall this position has made me more critical about problem solving but has also taught me about collaboration and working with others.
Central Michigan University: Concert Choir
August 2011- Present, Central Michigan University
General Member, August 2011-December 2014 As a general member of Central Michigan University's Concert Choir I was responsible for coming to choir prepared, ready to learn and engaged. Choir has always been part of my life and I believe it is because of the high standard musicians are held to. I have been able to challenge myself through music while also learning the reward of hard work. One important aspect of a musical group such as choir is reliability, every member of the group relies on each other to know their music, and be prepared for a performance or rehearsal. This holds each member of the group to a standard that I have not experienced in many other groups or classes.
Women's Uniform Chair, January 2015- Present As Women's Uniform Chair I am responsible for maintaining detailed records of current and previous uniform assignments going back to 2007. After making sure every women has a dress I am make sure that their dresses are send to be hemmed or altered if need be as well as arriving early and staying late to performance in case of emergency. At the end of term I collect all the uniforms and send them to be cleaned, if someone does not return their uniform it is my job to get a hold of them or place a charge on their student account through the university. This position requires attention to detail, organization skills and communication between our director, the executive board and choir members. Without these skills our choir would not look proper on stage and would in turn create a bad image for our organization.
American Marketing Association
January 2015 - Present, Central Michigan University American Marketing Association is a national organization established to allow members who work, teach and study in the field of marketing around the world to connect and exchange knowledge.
General Member Although I have only been a member of the American Marketing Association for a few months I ave learned many valuable skills from my experience. One of these skills is approach ability and networking. The members of AMA did have events that were focused on networking but to truly know others in the group I have had to make an effort and introduce myself. This has been a life lesson and a exercise that has put me outside of my comfort zone. However, it has also allowed me the opportunity to grow and become more comfortable with meeting new people. I hope to continue participating in American Marketing Association and one day potential become an executive board member.
